If he is just starting out tell him to do as many internships as possible to learn skills and get connections. get a copy of the hollywood creative directory and mail or fax to companies he would like to intern for with a cover letter indicating his interest interning for them and a resume. Also look for events where you can talk to industry professionals. The pay is low at first most of the time and alot of work is freelance so he might have to be looking for a job alot.
