i dont see how …
i dont see how idiots dont see how head and shoulders better than dr dre he is. quik makes live brillaint compositions. dre makes beats. its a difference. dre could never pull off a quiks grooves or a balance and options or rythmalism. dre is briliant at mixing but quik makes his own music from scratch. most musicians will tell you quik is the best musician in hip hop history its nots even close.only the higher minded know this .the public is cluess .

The SP-1200 “made” …
The SP-1200 “made” the sound of the Golden Age of Hip Hop. It’s transition from the very end of a loop to it’s attack at the beginning of the loop is what makes it special to me. I think that is where the difference lies.
You can “try” to emulate that feel with keyboard based samplers but I really dont think you’ll be successful. I came close a couple of times but the SP-1200 just does it naturally.
