I have a macbook and want to get a larger hard drive for music production (logic studio 8)?

is a 5400 rpm hard drive efficient enough, or do i need a 7200rpm hard drive?
i was thinking of an internal hard drive, not external

It will be fast enough if you max out your RAM (which isn’t too expensive at online stores). Where Logic is going to slow down is disk access as it starts to use up RAM. But if you start creating huge files, disk access is going to increase and the 5400rpm is going to slow you down during peak processing.

5400 will be good, but make sure it has a firewire port on the external hard drive. firewire is much faster then usb.
