What’s the best Climate Change Documentary Film Can we make?

April 26th, 2010

Our project for our Finals is the Documentary film we’ll be making upon our community service. our topic’s about climate change. i wanted to make a short film on climate change to awaken people about the global problem we’re now facing wherein man gradually suffers.

I would like to start the story with the creation of God, there’s a clip and narration. but i don’t know what’s next to that. the only idea i have is for the end of the film, where i’ll be showing the footage of our destroyed environment in the present.

help me please.

It seems appropriate for you to couch AGW in religious terms. While the AGW advocates use science to advance their cause, the science falls short, and they make up the difference with faith based methods.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming_consensus
AGW requires some religious thinking to truly grasp it.
http://www.johnpratt.com/items/docs/lds/meridian/2005/sci_rel_qa.html

To scientifically support the AGW theory, you need to provide evidence for the AGW articles of faith:

1) The earth is currently in a warming phase. The problem is that satellite measurements have failed to show a clear trend over the last decade (TLC for near surface):
http://www.ssmi.com/msu/msu_data_description.html#msu_amsu_time_series

2) The warming is caused by high levels of CO2.
http://www.globalwarmingart.com/wiki/File:Atmospheric_Absorption_Bands_png
The problem is that high CO2 concentrations are associated with cooling phases of the earth’s climate:
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/01/30/co2-temperatures-and-ice-ages/

3) The rise in the CO2 concentration from 0.028% to 0.039% of the atmosphere is caused by man’s burning of fossil fuels, and not the effect of a rise in the temperature of the ocean.
http://www2.canada.com/components/print.aspx?id=433b593b-6637-4a42-970b-bdef8947fa4e
The problem is that measurements done in the 1800’s do not support that thesis:
1878: CO2 = 344 ppm
1880: CO2 = 271 ppm
http://www.springerlink.com/content/t7h40g8355613013/?p=39b2395f1a8e43e5b1acb6d5c2ad8e2f&pi=1

4) The current temperature of the earth is historically unprecedented:
http://www.uoguelph.ca/~rmckitri/research/McKitrick-hockeystick.pdf
Historians sing a different tune:
http://www2.sunysuffolk.edu/mandias/lia/vikings_during_mwp.html
So do scientists who study ancient flora and fauna:
http://www.co2science.org/data/mwp/mwpp.php

5) If the earth continues to warm, it will be a disaster. The evidence supports just the opposite. There will not be more terrible weather. There is no good indication that this will affect the pandemic rate. The oceans are not rising at an alarming rate. Glaciers and sea ice are not going away globally. Agriculture would benefit, and might be able to keep up with our growing population a little longer if global warming actually happens.

6) Governments can and should control the climate. There is no reason to believe that government action will affect the climate on earth any more that it would on the surface of the sun. The draconian measures being proposed by governments are highly controversial.

******* the formatting is messed up, I know.. and I had to take out personal information to stay safe :) I guess I should add that I’m not actually looking for anyone to hire me through here, I’m just looking for feedback on my resume.

Thanks everyone!

It looks good to me. Do you already have a professional resume prepared? If not, you might want to look online, or in your local area, for a professional resume writing service. I have used a company called Rescue My Resume in the past. Had good luck, but they are only one of many out there. I have found that a well written resume has a very positive affect on potential employers, and you would be surprised how many people don’t bother to have one prepared. Anway, it looks like you are on the right track best of luck to you. M:)

The negative effects of commercial advertising on TV? Can anyone tell me what is the best way to search for an?

April 24th, 2010

Hi I am trying to write a paper about the negative effects that commercials / advertising has on our society via TV. I would like to write about political Ads, Ads that focus on children as the consumer etc… any advices please!!!!!

Check out the search engine results below. Some may be good, some not so good, but it should give you a start.

are my answers right?

April 22nd, 2010

1.) If a word problem is using information that represents a distance, a rate of speed, and amount of time, what relationship do these 3 pieces of information have? i put Rate of speed = (Distance) (Amount of time)

2.)The sum of 3 consecutive odd integers is equal to 386. Choose the equation that could be used to find the first number, x. i put x+(x+2)+(x+4)= 386

3.)Twice the sum of a number and 8 is the same as the difference of 3 and the number. Find the equation that could be used to find the number, x. 2(x+8)=3-1

4.)If a pair of shoes originally marked $90 is discounted 40%, what is the cost of the shoes after the discount? i put $36

5.)
The perimeter of a triangle is 36 inches. The short side is 4 inches less than the medium length side. The long side is 7 inches longer that the medium length side. Find the length of the medium length side. i put 14

6.)The total price of a new television, including a 15% delivery charge, is $1725. What is the price of the television excluding the delivery charge? i put $1275

1) No. Any of the following is correct:
distance = rate of speed * amount of time
time = distance / rate of speed
rate of speed = distance / time

2) Right on. Point of interest, three odd numbers cannot sum to an even number. odd + odd = even and even + odd = odd.

3) Close - 2(x+8) = 3-x

4) No - $36 is the amount of discount. The price of the shoes is 90 - 36 = 54. Think of it this way - would shoes that are 40% off cost less than half of their original price? Not a chance.

5) Let x be the length of the medium side.
x-4 + x + x + 7 = 36
3x - 4 + 7 = 36
3x + 3 = 36
3x = 33
x = 11

6) 1725 = 1.15x
1500 = x

Which two documentary films are the most visually startling, dramatic and effective?

April 22nd, 2010

I choose one Russian, one German, both made in ’30s within a couple years of each other and both heralding–from the perspective of each protagonist–what would become the savage conflict of the Eastern Front. They are ALEXANDER NEVSKY and TRIUMPH des WILLENS (Triumph of the Will). If you’ve seen them, what do you think?

Hi Friends,
I think, Twist of Faith and Uncertain Principles…

Concerning Evolution, how many tries did it take the Bombardier Beedle to get the firing chemicals just right?

April 20th, 2010

so that it stopped blowing itself up prematurely ?

It appears to me that this little beedle has a very complex set of chemicals that causes its Fire Blasting abilities….

Here are some unbiased details of the Beedle’s functions from the "Institute of Physics"
http://www.iop.org/Media/Press%20Releases/2008/press_29046.html

"The bombardier beetle, found mainly in Africa and Asia, is remarkable in that it can fire a powerful jet of hot, toxic fluid to fight off predators such as birds and frogs. While the chemical reaction that makes the venom has been understood for some time, the actual power behind the venomous squirt, which can travel as far as 20cm, has been cause for speculation.

Quantities of hydroquinone and hydrogen peroxide gases build up in the beetle’s abdomen but, when necessary for defence, get mixed together in a connected ‘combustion chamber’ to produce toxic benzoquinone. This hot fluid is then fired off at force in the face of enemy predators.

The key to the beetle’s powerful defensive trick is in its combustion chamber’s inlet (or entry) and exit valves. The inlet valve opens to receive the chemicals, which begin to boil as soon as they meet, and closes when a sufficient amount of gas has been received.

As the gases react together, they generate heat and increase the pressure in the closed chamber. When the pressure reaches a critical point, the end of the exit valve is forced open and the hot fluid is ejected as a powerful burst of toxic steam in a process known as "flash evaporation".

Once the gas is released, the exit valve closes, the inlet valve opens and the chamber fills again, preparing for the next venomous ejection."

So after seeing these amazing functions….how many tries did it take the beedle to perfect its present day function?

Or was it very intelligent design from the start?

Physicists are at this moment still trying to grasp what is even occuring in order to develop new technologies based on this design from nature.
As seen here…"The bombardier beetle is inspiring designers of engines, drug-delivery devices and fire extinguishers to improve spray technologies, writes Andy McIntosh, from Leeds University, and Novid Beheshti, of Swedish Biomimetics 3000 Ltd, in April’s Physics World."

Thank you for your intelligent review and answers : )
Also….Scientists recently watched the "blasts" in slow motion and noticed that what appears to be One Spurt…is actually a repeated series of smaller blasts that are released in such a way to not propel the beedle like a rocket!….

Isnt that Just Amazing?

What a deal that is, that this little crittle can do all that…..what are the chances of that perfection being developed by chance? *smiles*

This is to be an unbiased review of these things….do you hav an unbiased answer for me? : )
I thought it would be more obvious really….but my mention of "how many tries" is purposefully worded to show the silliness of such a thought : )

I believe that this little beetle was created by God…The non believer or the evolutionist will dig up all kinds of theory’s that will convince many people, just as they have done the last 250 years or so…but God has told us of these things.

What issues would you like to see addressed in movies, documentary’s, and informational films?

What are some things you would like to say?
Currently working on a documentary myself and collecting information, ideas, and opinions on current issues (global, local, or personal).
What are some things you would like to say?

Note:
Political situations excluded. As well as War issues, and pro-life/pro-choice.

Something besides the leftist propaganda the mainstream media and Hollywood are shoving down our throats every time we turn around. If you don’t look into things for yourself, you’ll think their views are the ONLY views. It’s either left or further left (and I don’t mean liberal, I mean left). They are totally out of touch with average Americans.

does this sound like a Craigslist scam?

Hi there, I’m glad you’re interested in my car.

This is a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid,Fuel type: Hybrid-electric, 4
Cylinders,Transmission: Automatic , only 19,800 ; Miles, VIN#
JHMFA36276S024082.

Here you can find more pictures with the car:
http://picasaweb.google.com/craigdwills2/Civic
(if the above link does not work copy and paste it into a new web
browser window)

It is in EXCELLENT condition; the body and paint are great, no
scratches and no dents; the interior is clean; it has never been
involved in an accident.

I’m an US Air Force Col. currently stationed in UK and the car is here
with me. It was bought in the US and shipped to Europe, but it was
never permanently registered here, the car is still registered in the
US.

The car is for sale locally as well, but there are slim chances of
this to happen. First of all this is a US model car, with the steering
wheel on the left side, as opposed to a UK model, that has the
steering wheel on the right side. And second, in order to be able to
register this car here in UK the buyer would have to pay very high
import/custom taxes. So I decided to sell the car back in the US.
As I’m unable to travel in the near future and I don’t have anyone
back home to help me with the sale I decided to make this transaction
through eBay or craigslist.

So how this actually works? Simple: the buyer sends the payment to
eBay and they hold the money until the car is delivered; I ship the
car to US; I get my money only after the buyer receives the car and
makes sure everything is as agreed. I believe this protects both buyer
and seller and it’s the right way to do this.

The final price is $5,000 including shipping from Europe to the US and
delivery to your home address.

So if you decide to buy this car or need further information please
get back to me as soon as possible.

Thank you and have a great day,
Col. John G. Clarke
