1.) D=rt (distance= rate * time)

2.) Correct (But, there is no odd integer for this equation)

3.) 2(x+8) = 3-x ( How do you know x =1?)

4.) $54 ($36 is the amount of the discount. subtract that from $90)

5.) 11 inches ( Test it out. 14 + 10 + 21 is not equal to 36)

6.) $1500.00 (How did you get that answer?)

1) it’s Distance / Time taken

2) right

3) 2(x+8) = 3-X (not 1)

4) 100% - $90, so 40% discount, means you’re paying 40% LESS, ie. 100% - 40% = 60%. So 60% of $90 = $54.

5) Ok, let’s make the medium side = x. So the short side is 4 inches LESS than x, so it’s x-4. The long side is 7 inches LONGER, so it’s x+7. Now, the perimeter is the sum of all sides.

Therefore, short + medium + long = 36

So, x + x-4 + x+7 = 36

3x -3 = 36
3x = 36 + 3
3x = 39
x= 39/3
x = 13 inches.

6) Ok, so we know that $1725 is the price of the TV, INCLUDING the 15% delivery charge. So, if the price of the tv is 100%, we know that $1725 is 115%.

So if 115% = $1725, then 1% = 1725/115 = 15
So 100% = 15 x 100 = 1500.

The cost of the tv excluding the delivery charge is $1500.

1) No. Any of the following is correct:
distance = rate of speed * amount of time
time = distance / rate of speed
rate of speed = distance / time

2) Right on. Point of interest, three odd numbers cannot sum to an even number. odd + odd = even and even + odd = odd.

3) Close - 2(x+8) = 3-x

4) No - $36 is the amount of discount. The price of the shoes is 90 - 36 = 54. Think of it this way - would shoes that are 40% off cost less than half of their original price? Not a chance.

5) Let x be the length of the medium side.
x-4 + x + x + 7 = 36
3x - 4 + 7 = 36
3x + 3 = 36
3x = 33
x = 11

6) 1725 = 1.15x
1500 = x

x=11
medium has to be 11

On 1 it should be distance ÷ time
2 is fine
3 should have x where the 1 is
4 you found the discount, not the cost, so subtract 36 from 90
5 the sides would be 10, 14 and 21 if 14 is right but that adds to 45 not 36, 9 too high so reduce each side by 3
[equation was (x - 4) + x + (x + 7) = 36]
6 should be x + 0.15x = 1725
1.15x = 1725 so divide 1725 by 1.15 to get the right answer
