are my answers right?
1.) If a word problem is using information that represents a distance, a rate of speed, and amount of time, what relationship do these 3 pieces of information have? i put Rate of speed = (Distance) (Amount of time)
2.)The sum of 3 consecutive odd integers is equal to 386. Choose the equation that could be used to find the first number, x. i put x+(x+2)+(x+4)= 386
3.)Twice the sum of a number and 8 is the same as the difference of 3 and the number. Find the equation that could be used to find the number, x. 2(x+8)=3-1
4.)If a pair of shoes originally marked $90 is discounted 40%, what is the cost of the shoes after the discount? i put $36
5.)
The perimeter of a triangle is 36 inches. The short side is 4 inches less than the medium length side. The long side is 7 inches longer that the medium length side. Find the length of the medium length side. i put 14
6.)The total price of a new television, including a 15% delivery charge, is $1725. What is the price of the television excluding the delivery charge? i put $1275

5) Let x be the length of the medium side.
x-4 + x + x + 7 = 36
3x - 4 + 7 = 36
3x + 3 = 36
3x = 33
x = 11
6) 1725 = 1.15x
1500 = x

On 1 it should be distance รท time
2 is fine
3 should have x where the 1 is
4 you found the discount, not the cost, so subtract 36 from 90
5 the sides would be 10, 14 and 21 if 14 is right but that adds to 45 not 36, 9 too high so reduce each side by 3
[equation was (x - 4) + x + (x + 7) = 36]
6 should be x + 0.15x = 1725
1.15x = 1725 so divide 1725 by 1.15 to get the right answer

i got 11 inches for the medium.

3x+3=36
-3 -3
3x=33
3x/3 3x/3
x=11
medium has to be 11

3) 2(x+8) = 3-X (not 1)
4) 100% - $90, so 40% discount, means you’re paying 40% LESS, ie. 100% - 40% = 60%. So 60% of $90 = $54.
5) Ok, let’s make the medium side = x. So the short side is 4 inches LESS than x, so it’s x-4. The long side is 7 inches LONGER, so it’s x+7. Now, the perimeter is the sum of all sides.
Therefore, short + medium + long = 36
So, x + x-4 + x+7 = 36
3x -3 = 36
3x = 36 + 3
3x = 39
x= 39/3
x = 13 inches.
6) Ok, so we know that $1725 is the price of the TV, INCLUDING the 15% delivery charge. So, if the price of the tv is 100%, we know that $1725 is 115%.
So if 115% = $1725, then 1% = 1725/115 = 15
So 100% = 15 x 100 = 1500.
The cost of the tv excluding the delivery charge is $1500.

2.) Correct (But, there is no odd integer for this equation)
3.) 2(x+8) = 3-x ( How do you know x =1?)
4.) $54 ($36 is the amount of the discount. subtract that from $90)
5.) 11 inches ( Test it out. 14 + 10 + 21 is not equal to 36)
6.) $1500.00 (How did you get that answer?)
