I choose one Russian, one German, both made in ’30s within a couple years of each other and both heralding–from the perspective of each protagonist–what would become the savage conflict of the Eastern Front. They are ALEXANDER NEVSKY and TRIUMPH des WILLENS (Triumph of the Will). If you’ve seen them, what do you think?
