What topic will fit for teenagers in making a documentary?
We have a project in English subject. We are tasked to make a short documentary film. I don’t have an idea of what topic will catch the attention of the viewers. Give me a topic that will please the audience. We really want to win in this documentary festival.
I had an experienced in movie making because when I was in junior year we had an movie festival and I won the best director, best picture and best actress for my co-actress. I am just confused of what topic will I make for the documentary. I hope you will help me.
get a topic that has a strong message and will capture people’s hearts. maybe about animal abuse in local shelters, the homeless conditions in your area. if you catch the true heartache, you’ll get people’s attention.

There was a recent contest that had this as the motif. Search, ‘National History Day Competition’. University of Maryland. Reports claimed there were 500,000 entrants.

My school is film based. Not acting but television and film. Now I know for sure that documentaries are the hardest of all film. It’s all raw and unrehearsed. Depending on how you win the festival will affect if you win. If kids vote for the best film you want something up beat and recent in pop culture. Something like what do kids feel about school. If teachers grade to see who wins the festival you want something involving politics or a PSA (Public Service Announcement) so something like the equality of animals or the lowering of the economy and how it effects your family and the people in your neighborhood. I hope this helps. I’m only about to start my sophomore year in H.S. But I’ve learned so much the most I learned was working with the stars and behind the scenes people of Law and Order: SVU, Martin Scorsese and Woody Allen. One of my films was even in the TriBeCa Film Festival. That’s the good thing about living in NYC….lol.
