There is an amazing series of documentaries that started with on called 7 Up out of the UK. Basically, the documentarians interviewed about 14 boys and girls from different social and economic classes in London. Then every 7 years they went back and interviewed them again (14 Up, 21 Up, 28 Up, etc…) I believe they are up to 42 now.
In each, they check in to see how they are doing. They also include comments from previous interviews. It is amazing to see how the different people evolve and how things vary based on education and upbringing.
One word of warning. Like reality shows, the editors control what you see, so you always have to be cautious about the portraits they present.

Dr. Death. It’s a movie about a man who designed and built execution equipment (electric chairs, gas chambers, etc.). He was then asked to go to Auschwitz to find evidence corroborating the story of a certain Holocaust denier, who was on trial at the time. It’s very interesting, and very strange at the same time.

Anything by Micheal Moore
All of his films are good. They are informative and he holds no punches. A lot of people hate him, but he tells the truth the way a working class stiff sees it.
since 99% of us are just that we should stop and listen to what he’s saying.
I wonder what his next movie will be about?

Hearts and Minds….this was recommended to me in college. My dad was a viet-nam vet, and would never talk about his tour of duty there. I watched this film and it opened my eyes to the reality of that time and place. Made this grown man cry…by the way it is on Critereon Dvd now..
