The AK 47 is still ...
The AK 47 is still in use by many countries. Its a lot of bang for the buck.
The Russians are using the AK 74 now. its essentially the same operating system, but a different round ( 7.62 x 45 ), instead of the traditional 7.62 x 39.
The M 16 is constantly being upgraded, but, there is talk of going to a gas piston system similar to the AK, the FN SCAR.

Horsecrap. It's ...
Horsecrap. It's obvious that you have not shot with AK. It's not like AK was designed first as a rifle like AR-series, but my experiences with RK-62 and MPiKMS are that they are accurate to the 300 meters. MPiKMS less so, thanks to folding stock.
