Okay, so, you’re thinking… documentary films… boring! Well, I got into documentary films about a year ago, and prior to that, I wasn’t really interested in them. The more I see different ones, the more I like them - and now I’m kind of addicted. SO… here is my comment, then question. Comment: Right now, I’ve been watching "The Corporation" on HULU, and I’ve watched it like, six times (maybe more.) I think it’s the most amazing documentary I’ve ever seen in my LIFE. "The Corporation" is free on HULU. Then, I am also ‘now’ addicted to watching "No End In Sight" - another documentary. I bought No End in Sight, and I’ve watched that one a good five times now. I should note, I like watching any kind of documentary, and I love all different kinds of movies, TV, etc. It’s just that some documentary films I’m seeing are so interesting, I’m amazed. So, those are my two favorites for past month or two. QUESTION: Are there any must-see documentaries I’m missing… anything you’ve seen that you would suggest as some doc that ‘blew you away’ ? If you’ve seen a ‘must-see’ documentary - what would you suggest? Honest question, hoping for honest (nice) answers… Thanks!
I am LOVING all these suggestions! Thank you so much! Great group of folks! (I’ve seen about half of those mentoned, but, I still - wow - thanks for ALL the great suggestions. Picking ‘Best Answer" isn’t going to be easy on this one! I didn’t expect more than one or two people to respond. Thanks everyone! You make me smile!
"We shall remain" is the best doc i’ve seen in a long time. History of Native Americans and the first Whites in America
I am getting ready to film a documentary film and was wondering if there are any legal requirements. This is not a big production with lots of crew. Just 3 people and all equipment will be portable. We will not need to block traffic or anything. Mainly just interviews. Some filming will be in public places like parks and sidewalks. Do I need a permit from the city. Technically, the filming will take place over a year, so again, not a huge production.
Many people shoot guerrilla style films without hassle if they don’t get caught, but if you want to be above board then you should speak to your local council office as they may require you to have public liability insurance.
It seems that even europeans make films about how horrible life is in the US, but I don’t seem to recall anything that depicts the racist, xenophobic, poverty-wrecked lives of minorities in europe–post-WW2 that is.
One of my favourites: La HaƮne - French film by Mathieu Kassovitz. Not strictly Muslim - but ghetto life in Paris suburbs. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113247/
Also, The Promise, by the Dardennes brothers: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117398/

Yes, there are films about their life. Not just about Muslims, but about ghetto life.
You should see La Haine, for example. Treats themes as revenge, resentment, police brutality, riots…
There are many films about Europe’s immigrants. I’ve seen a few. I’ll get it back to you with a couple of film titles.
No.
The reason "documentary films" are more popular these days is to do with the FACT that many around this World have woken up to the lying cheating politicians who, if the truth be told, are in the pay of an elitist group of evil individuals hell bent on Global Fascism and will stop at NOTHING to scare the living daylights out of the masses, including sponsored terror attacks against their own citizenry.
The "paid for" media then go all out to ram home the message that it’s "them over there" who are responsible so we all must give up our rights and freedoms in order to be safe.
LIES LIES AND MORE DAMN LIES.
WAKE UP AND SMELL THE FASCISM!
And yes, you are correct "Global warming happens anyway through the changes of the seasons, ice ages and so on",…this is true, but it is being "used and manipulated" by Politicians and "special interest groups" to justify HIGHER TAXES and the formation of a Global Government (New World Fascist Order).
And yes, Man has polluted the air, we ought to do something about that, but do you honestly think a World Government and HIGHER TAXES are the answer.
YOU,..grow up and read some more then maybe YOU can get the FACTS right!
Duh!
