Could someone give me an idea how to handle this?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Hello Ladies,

I am new to this board, but have what is likely to be a strange question. I have three children,7, 3.5 and 1.5. Each of my dd’s were preemies, 36w, 32w, and 31w1d. I had a tl in late March ‘06, not because I didn’t want another baby, but because I didn’t want to have another preemie.

A week and a half ago I started having strange dreams. One specifically stands out. My Nana, who has been deceased for nearly three years, "came" to me in this dream and told me that I am pregnant with twins and to remember how much everyone around me is going to give up so that I can have these babies. Each dream after that one has pointed to me being pregnant. (Each time I get pregnant I dream it first, in some fashion or another, and the dreams progress until delivery. Also, the dreams always start shortly after conception, which would be the case in this situation as well.)

My last AF was 01/01/2007-01/07/2007 (my periods are normally 3 to 5 weeks long and very heavy since my tl) and was medium to light flow. Because my AF’s are so weird (normal for me now) I don’t even know when I would be due for my next AF.

What I’m looking for is advice on how to handle this situation and if anyone else has had dreams like mine that preceed pregnancy?

Any help will be greatly appreciated and received.

Thanks

wow. that is interesting.
I did not find out I was pregnant until I was 10 days past my cycle. But I had the strangest dreams right from the time of conception.
None that pointed out my pregnancy. But just very vivid, different dreams. So unreal what the body can do.
I hope that everything works out ok for you. If you have twins on the way I wish you the best and I hope you can enjoy and embrace this as it comes.
You are already a wonderful mother…you can handle this. Be strong, take deep breaths.
Good luck. Wishing the best for you.

Where can I find brakes pads for my international step delivery vans that will last longer than 15K miles?

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

I am owner a small specialty pastry company and have a fleet of 15 international step vans (like the ones used for UPS and FedEx). I am having problems with the brakes wearing out way too quickly; they only seem to last about 15,000 miles. This has become a huge expense for me in maintenance costs and I need something that last longer (a lot longer if possible). I am not a mechanic – I am a pastry chef. I outsource the servicing of my fleet to a local shop known for working on medium duty trucks and the owner tells me there’s nothing better than the semi metallic pads he is supplying. I really think he just wants the markup. He (reluctantly) has agreed to allow me to supply him with the pads because I threatened to find a new shop with better products. I only hope someone can help recommend something that is proven to last longer than the measly 15,000 miles I’m getting now. Please help!

Sounds like you may have to talk to your drivers and slow them down a little bit.Brakes are only as good as the drivers that use them

where is the best place to do a post graduate degree in tv and film production? directing and production?

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

i’m doing my ba hons degree in television production and am looking at potential courses to do for post grad, as well as places. like in england, but would like to go to california.

Hi Liam,

I don’t know about schools in England, but maybe I can help you with American schools. First off, there are many film schools in the states. Most are pretty bad. The few famous ones owe their reputation mostly because of the few famous directors who were once students there.

On the West Coast, there is USC and UCLA. I had just graduated from New York University’s Film School (in 1995) and since I was looking for a graduate program in film, I visited both. In terms of tuition, they were both ridiculously expensive then, they are worse now. Now the differences: USC, former home of Spielberg, Lucas… works like this: one student gets to make a film, the rest of the class has to work on it. Since film schools are just as corrupt as Hollywood itself, who knows who will be directing, and who will be carrying equipment… When I found out about that, USC was out of the question. UCLA, former home of Coppola, had just closed their undergraduate film program, but the graduate school was still going. However, I looked at the curriculum, and it was identical to my undergraduate curriculum at NYU,,. So I thought, what’s the point?

So I came back to the East Coast, to my old school NYU (former home of Scorsese, Spike Lee, Stone, Jarmush, and myself :)) and checked out their graduate program. Again, it was the exact same thing as the undergraduate one. What I found out was graduate film schools were basically for students who had studied something else first, like English, History, Philosophy and who wanted to apply their knowledge to film.

The best thing about famous film school for me was not the program, not the teachers, but the students you get to meet. These schools are super selective, so if you can somehow get in, you are going to meet some really cool, talented, and borderline insane students. That created an awesome atmosphere where we all learned from each other, we all shared the same passion (no limits on how long we could talk about movies…), and we all pushed each other to do the best we could.

The bad things: tuition price, having to pay for your films on top of the tuition (a decent thesis is going to cost around $20-30,000), corruption within the administration and faculty, pretty low quality of the classes, not very good teachers, 1% chance you’ll be doing what you wanted to do when you graduate, 0.01% chance if what you wanted to do is direct movies.

To sum it up, you have two options:

Option 1: Go to film school, spend 4 x $50,000 + $25,000 (thesis, if you get picked) = $225,000, win a couple festivals, and get your first job as a PA unless your dad is a producer.

If that’s your decision, then what school you want to go to depends on what kind of films you want to make. If you want to work on big Hollywood productions, go to UCLA. If you’re more of a Scorsese type or European filmmaker (and you’d rather go to a school located at the heart of New York City instead of a campus) go to NYU.

Option 2: Don’t go to film school, use the $225,000 to make a feature film, and who knows, if it’s good and fairly commercial, you just might get a distributor, and funding for your next feature film.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Why do delivery boys get pissed off when i don’t tip?

Friday, February 19th, 2010

I ordered a medium pizza for 12.50 including a delivery charge. I only have $20 for the whole weekend. I don’t feel like giving 3 dollars to a delivery guy. If you delivery boys cry about your job well ok get a damn job that pays you minimum wage. Or why don’t you get signs and horde around the pizza ceo’s demanding they give you more money for your service. I just think its ridiculous for someone to give me a pissed off look after they see the money they received. Also i know they don’t get payed well that is why if you hate your job you should get a new one maybe start up a organization to collect money for the pizza delivery men and women of America. Oh i forgot its a recession, its hard to find a job, well maybe you shouldn’t be expecting a tip then since most people are suffering from financial struggle.
OH damn everyone seems to be mad here, lol like i expected…. but i love how no one seems to mention the pizza company owners who pay THEIR delivery boys with 2.10 every hour. Thats ok though they can do that because they make such establishments. Let all the fault and blame be put on the Americans who tip these people for the wrong of the pizza owners put on them. boo hoo

It doesn’t matter WHY you didn’t tip, just that you didn’t. The tip is how they make their money since they aren’t being paid a full wage, and it is supposed to be a service fee. If you’d like to clarify it, you can call the company and ask if the delivery charge is going to the delivery person as a tip or not. If not, then you need to tip 15-20% of the original bill BEFORE the delivery fee and before taxes or discounts. So if the pizza is 10 dollars, then tip 1.50 - 2.00.

If you don’t want to tip, then don’t order from somewhere that delivers. It is just how it works, not fair, but that’s how it is.

Is there any public television programs that are not duplicated or bettered on cable tv?

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

If not, what hope does the public medium have? Is it any more or less adaptable to new delivery methods than its commercial cousins?

What do you mean by public tv programs? Do you mean like PBS or just network tv like NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX? I much prefer network tv to cable in most cases. I don’t even have cable or satellite. As to PBS I love watching the old movies and the masterpiece theater shows, but because of the switch to Digital I no longer get PBS. Which is sad.

I want to work in post production. How?

Monday, February 15th, 2010

I moved to London to get a job in the post production.

Problem is I graduated in Media Production in 2001 and pissed the last 8 years away in stupid admin jobs.

I film and edit weddings still but don’t know how to get a foothold in a professional capacity.

Help?

I don’t know, I have a very similar degree to yours and found it as difficult as you. I know someone who didn’t get a degree but went to one of the tv companies (I’m pretty sure it was the BBC) and did their in-house editing course. A lot of companies will only take you on and train you themselves. We did a lot of camera work as well as editing and we were told that companies such as the BBC wouldn’t take us on because they would have to retain us. I eventually re-qualified as a nutritionist, but would have loved to use my film degree.
The best advice I can give you is to write spec letters to all the production companies you can. Offer to do unpaid work experience to get a foot in (and unfortunately a lot of these companies will expect unpaid work experience anyway). Also enquire into any in-house training they may have. And make copies of your editing and make an appointment and take it in to show them.
Good luck

666…warning to all christian.. the last days are here!!?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As we all can see the end time is already here. When you receive this message, please forward it to everyone you know; it is the most important message for everyone before the Rapture and those left behind. Please do print this message and share it with as many as you can. Anyone who calls themselves a Christian and has no desire to witness to souls, this is the saddest thing to our Lord because He died for our souls, PRAISE THE LORD.

MARK OF THE BEAST (666)
RFID
"He required everyone - great and small, rich and poor, slave and free - to be given a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. And no one could buy or sell anything without that mark, which was either the name of the beast or the number representing his name. Wisdom is needed to understanding this. Let the one who has understanding solve the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is 666" (Rev. 13:16-18 New Living Translation).
666 IS A SYSTEM OF THE ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT
At the present time, computer-assisted biometric identification systems are being developed rapidly and have been readily accepted into our society. Miniature computer chips, using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, have already been embedded within electronic appliances, retail goods, livestock, and human beings. This is not tomorrow’s science fiction
- it is happening today.
In many parts of the world, Applied Digital Corporation’s human implanted RFID microchip (VeriChip) is used to help diagnose Alzheimer’s disease, mental illness, Diabetes, heart problems and it also helps to prevent kidnappings. In the near future, this type of biochip will be widely accepted and implanted for personal identification, protection, monitoring, tracking, commerce, and other uses not yet imagined.
Unfortunately, such biochips store personal identification and the information generated from its use will be stored and maintained in a computer database. Your body becomes a tagged asset that is monitored and whose behavior will be tracked. Implanting the microchip in the body alters a person’s physically, mentally and ultimately - spiritually. The problem that arises from the use of biochip in humans is more than an aesthetic, medical, political, or legal issue.
Satan works in the world and he shapes people and society to achieve his goals. Knowingly or not, anti-christ will force people to follow and obey an agenda that appears to be in the best interest of its people but, in following the pattern of human history and man’s rebellion to God, will bring about pain and suffering until Christ comes again.
"…he [satan's agent] deceived all the people who belong to this world. He ordered the people of the world to make a great statue of the first beast, who was fatally wounded and then came back to life. He was permitted to give life to this stature so that it could speak. Then the statue commanded that anyone refusing to worship it must die." (Rev 13vs14-15 New Living
Translation).
A time is coming when society and lives will be ruled by a self-imposed system where mankind is monitored, analyzed, measured, and evaluated by computers. In those times, anyone who refuses to accept this system will be tortured then killed.
FORMATION OF A UBIQUITOUS SOCIETY
We are moving towards a ubiquitous society where people from all walks of life can access anything, anywhere, and at anytime regardless of time and location. The implementations of RFID technology in retail stores is one example. It’s estimated that the majority of retail merchandise will use RFID technology within 1 or 2 years (as of 2005) and will replace bar codes, which have been used for the past 30 years.
What drives such development is the belief that we will live safer, easier, richer and more enjoyable lives by using technology to manage everyday aspects of daily life. In a society that craves automated financial management, instant communication and security, it’s not a far stretch for RFID enabled biochips to be implanted into the body, and eventually replacing currency that is easily stolen, lost, or hidden. In the near future:
1) All people will be required to have a biochip. All economic operations will use this chip thereby replacing today’s unit of monetary exchange.
2) There will be privacy invasion and freedom will cease to exist.
3) A charismatic leader, who is the Anti-Christ, will rule the whole world through a system that is interconnected and interdependent.
MARK OF THE BEAST IN THE HUMAN BODY, WE MUST NOT RECEIVE IT. (REV 14VS9,
14VS11, 16VS2)
1) Accepting this mark is the irreversible act of selling your soul to Satan. This sin is unforgivable and cannot be reversed by physically removing the mark (Rev. 14:9-11). Your soul belongs to God. Therefore if you receive this mark, you then will belong to Satan.
2) If you receive this mark, you willfully placing your faith in man and not in God.
