I have made a documentary using a few popular songs from several artists but i have been unable to air my documentary because i need clearance from the writer, publishers, record labels etc. I really need your help with this!!!
You will need to write to the publisher of the music who will usually be the copyright holder, or be able to put you in touch with whoever else it may be. Explain your need and ask for a licence.
it needs to be creative and original
well if its pizza. make it a cool party Commercial
I am in the process of directing a documentary and am having a hard time figuring out how to distribute my film to top documentary broadcasters such as, Discovery, National Geographic, History, and Travel channel, along with international markets as well. I was also wondering how it would work, and how do they decide on what films to choose and how much to pay. Thanks
thats a bit like writing a book….you need to copy parts of it and send it to people with a letter of intro, letting them know it is available for a price
Do not need to copy write that and i don’t think there is such a thing, but you can mail yourself a full copy, do not open the envelope when it gets back to you….thats your proof of ownership, preceding any publication….and yes it does stand up in Court as long as you do not break the seal on the envelope…and in case you have to, do it in front of a layer and an other witness, have them sign a paper saying yes this is what was in the envelope
Current TV, the youth-oriented cable network that Gore launched last August, has been picked up by Comcast for its digital tier, and will reach 17 million homes as of this week, says Gores’s business partner Joel Huatt. The network is in negotiations with cable systems in France, Germany and Italy, and expects to achieve the relatively rare feat of becoming profitable in its first year. Says Hyatt: "We are just on fire." Additionally, Gore has begun a London-based equity firm with former Goldman Sachs Asset Management CEO David Blood. It’s a partnership that, despite its nickname Blood & Gore, aims to invest in socially responsible ventures.
All this would be hard to walk away from. Or, looked at another way, it would be a good source of seed money for a return to politics. Gore boasts of [moving the needle] in the climate-change debate, but he conceded in his New York appearance, "Look, I’m under no illusion that the office of the President is second to none in its ability to make changes and get things done."
Note [moving the needle]. Could anyone explain it in a simple way?
so, "moving the needle" is a simile here, right?
To christopher: How did you know there are two sides, man made global warming and naturally occurring warming cycle, since the whole context does not talk about the both?
it is a simile and simply means adding pressure or putting pressure on the issue
other terms might be:
upping the ante
raising the temperature
running the meter
going for the gold
leveraging the lobbyists
converting conservatives
The following colleges are highly rated by US News and World Report’s college survey for film majors, are rated as "extremely selective" with small class sizes (15:1 or below student-teacher ratio) and offer professional internship programs. I thought that might be three relevant criteria for your question.
George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola graduated from USC Film School, so it’s considered extremely prestigious, while Steven Spielberg was turned down for admission(!). Instead Spielberg studied English at California State University at Long Beach, then moved into film. His biography at the URL below is enlightening if you are considering becoming a director. I think the key to success in the film industry is CONTACTS so that’s why people flock to LA. Take a look and good luck!
Hey also check out: UCLA and Loyola Marymount (both in LA, near Beverly Hills).
