Which is your favorite anime studio/production group?

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

I know very little about anime studios, so I list what I really know and love:

1. Sunrise. Home of everything Gundam, although I only love Gundam Seed, Seed Destiny and 00, then Crush Gear Turbo. I just love their CG animation. Inuyasha? Sorry, I don’t really know (I blame bad TV channel for this >:( ) And oh! Keroro Gunso!

2. Studio Pierrot. Home of Naruto and Bleach. Although the quality differs each week - which sucks - but I have no idea why am I still in love with them. XD

3. Toei Animation. Digimon’s world! Digimon rules! Also the home for One Piece, although I don’t know about it well.

I do know a bit about Madhouse, Kyoto Animation and some others - they have great animes, just that I wasn’t really hooked with them (I know; I have such bad taste :P ).

Does anybody know what facilities does BBC Post Production offer programme makers?

Can anyone help me? I want to pursue acting or television production.Does anyone know what I should do?

Hey man, if you want to pursing acting then this is what I recommend. Mind you, this is assuming that you will be coming out to Los Angeles, CA; the mecca of professional acting in the USA. I don’t know what state you live in so I’ll give you advice as if you were heading out to Los Angeles, CA.

Here you go:

1) First thing is to get yourself situated. Don’t try to run off getting acting work right off the bat. Get yourself grounded and stable. So GO GET A JOB! It can take time to book acting work. So you need to work a job that will pay you steady income and give you health benefits while you still pursue acting. Look at companies in Los Angeles like AAA and Department of Water and Power (DWP) or Bank of America. All of these companies have call center jobs. If you don’t mind sitting on the phone and doing customer service work, then these companies can be really good for you to work at. Why? Because these companies have work shifts that can start at 5pm or 4pm in the afternoon. Remember, as an actor you MUST have your day time free to audition for TV shows, commercials and movies. You cannot work a full time day job and pursue acting easily. It is just too hard. And your goal should be to work a job that puts you in a stress free environment. A job that pays you good so you are not struggling. And a job that gives you your day times free so you can pursue your passion. A call center job does this and Los Angeles has a few of those. If you don’t like call center jobs, then you can go wait tables or be a bartender. I never liked that though.

2) Have a GOOD car that works. You NEED a car in Los Angeles. So if you have a good reliable car, then drive it out to LA. If not, then buy a good 2nd hand good quality car.

3) If you need to take acting classes or if you need find out who are the good agents in town or if you need to find out how to get auditions, there is a one-stop shop kinda place in Los Angeles that is very very good for actors. The place is called The Actors Network. I have gone to some of their meetings. They are very very good at helping an actor get jump started in the business. I highly recommend them.

Here is their website: http://www.actors-network.com/

4) Get some good headshots. If you don’t have professional pics, then agents and casting directors will NOT see you. I recommend this photographer, Robert Kazandjian. He does excellent excellent work and is not too expensive.

Here is his site: http://www.kazphoto.com/

5) Also, you will need to put together an acting reel to showcase your acting abilities to casting directors and agents. Agents and casting directors always want to see your acting work. So having what is called a "REEL" will help you greatly. If you have no TV or film acting experience at all, then here is a good company that can put together a cool acting reel for you when you are ready to do so. Their work is very professional. And they are not too expensive either.

6) Go meet casting directors. If you are at a place where you have some good acting training under your belt and a little bit of experience and you are wanting to meet top quality casting directors, then you should take what are known as casting director workshops. You should try them for like one to two years straight just meeting and building relationships with casting directors because casting directors are gonna be the gate-keepers to getting on those TV shows and movies you wanna do. I think the number one place in Los Angeles to meet good quality casting directors is at a place called One on One Productions.

Here is their link: http://www.oneononeproductions.com

They specialize in actors meeting casting directors. They allow actors to perform acting scenes in front of industry professionals. And then if these casting directors like you they will keep you in mind for acting work. I have tried them and they work. I’ve auditioned for good TV shows because of these workshops. But be prepared. One on One Productions will audition you to see if you qualify to meet casting directors. If you are not that good yet and need some more acting training, they will not allow you to meet casting people at their place.

7) You also need to have a cool store to check out where you can buy books on monolgues, acting scenes, books that tell what agents are looking for actors, books that tell you what different acting agencies are like, books that list production companies etc. etc. There is one place that is really cool for that. They are called:

Samuel French Theater and Film Book Store.
11963 Ventura Blvd
Studio City, CA 91604
(818) 762-0535

These are thingsyou can do that will help you greatly as an actor in Los Angeles, CA.

As far as film production work, the only thing you can really do for that is go to schools like AFI (American Film Institute) to study film production.

Message delivery failed- verizon wireless?

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

I got my replacement Verizon Wireless LG Voyager from Asurion last week. On my plan, I was never able to get picture messages or video messages. I didn’t include the media package in my plan. But, two days ago, my plan changed, and now media (A.K.A I can receive picture messages/ video messages) is included. One problem. I still cant receive picture messages or video messages. Nor send them. I dialed *228 and reset my phone and all that jazz. But it still says ‘Message Delivery Failed’ . Why? I mean. I have media now. So why is it still like that?

it may take them a couple days to get your new plan up and operating.. but thats just a guess.. you might not have service while you are sending it.. or you are in an area that doesnt allow picture messages to be sent.. but thats pretty rare..

if you send it and right away it says that its failed then obviously verizon didnt do something right.. but if you send the message then it says sending message then it takes like years to get anywhere (the little bar) and then it says that the message failed, then you are probably just in a bad area.. make sure that if the second thing happens that you have more than one bar of reception (i count the weird symbol next to service as a bar.. so as long as it doesnt say no service, you have service) but make sure that you have at least two "real" bars of 1X.. not evdo.. thats only for web and stuff.. so as long as you have bars on the 1x then you should be good..

if nothing i said works, take it into verizon and have them help you with your problem.. they will know what to do for you.. cances are that it has something to do with your account.. good luck

Satellite TV System

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

In the early 90s when the first satellite TV system equipment appeared on the market, only people with good financial means could afford buying them. Home dishes were often considered an expensive luxury that occupied half the roof or yard and didn’t work that great either; unlike cable and regular broadcast, satellite TV was surely hard to get. Presently, you can see nice small dishes perched on most rooftops, and this happens not only in urban areas, but in distant country locations where cable companies cannot reach. Movies, sporting events and news from around the world lure the user to install a satellite TV system for the entire family.

There are however cases when the installation of satellite TV systems are not possible because of the incompatibility with the house local conditions. Thus, houses with an obstructed southern exposure have little or no reception signal at all, and home owners have to be content with a cable network instead of a satellite TV system. If the roof does not work well for you, there is always the backyard to try. Experts advise that you test the home for satellite TV system compatibility before signing the contract with a provider, the company’s employees will most often help you with the checking process.

Then, the mounting area requires a few things. Though, it is possible to receive the signal through windows, the general recommendation is to locate the dish outside on roofs, chimneys or balconies. The mounting area doesn’t have to be too large, since modern satellite TV systems are not more than twenty inches wide. There could be mounting restrictions in the case of renters, as they can use only the areas that fall under the regulations of the renting contract and no common spaces like the roof deck will do for the matter.

Do not overlook the importance of the wiring for the installation of a satellite TV system. You need coaxial cable outlets in the TV area, and here a good word of advice says that you can use either the house coaxial system or the wiring of former cable television. If your situation corresponds to these two cases, then you may not have to go through the trouble of specific wiring for the satellite TV system. In case you do not meet this requirement, it is good to know that the wiring falls into your responsibility as the service provider mentions it as a must-have.
