Why would I want to purchase a digital asset management program like iView MediaPro if I have AdobeBridge?

Wild guess: Because Adobe Bridge doesn't meet your needs.

If Adobe Bridge does meet your needs, your question is moot.

In the production studio, what is a camera card?

Monday, May 25th, 2009

I'm in a video production class, and I have to do a project due tomorrow, of course, (please, don't lecture me on how I should have done this already, I'm a college student, this is what I do) and I have need of a "camera card", not to be confused with a camera memory card. It's some type of prop, but I have no idea what you do with it.

It might be something for the white balance. If you want colors to be very accurate, you can set the white balance to Custom and take a sample shot/clip with a white or grey card being the only object in the frame.

I'm sorry if this doesn't answer the question, but I hope it helps.

What it is the time for post production marketing on a documentary?

Monday, May 25th, 2009

While I know this varies..my question is how do you go about marketing the film once it is done..in the art house, documentary crowd? If it is well funded how long does this process usually take. Basically once post production is finished, how long to get a documentary up and going? (if it is good)

Generally the principle photography can take as little as four to six weeks.

It is the research and getting the rights form the stock houses that supply the background images can take over six months and the the editing can take literally years.

If you are funded then the process can take a lot less time and if you have an experienced production team it can take much less time.

how much do film and television production people make yearly?

Monday, May 25th, 2009

im thinking about going into film and television production at humber college in toronto. I was just wondering how much people in this field make a year, i know they woulld differ but if someone could give me some info, it would be appriciated

From the US Department of Labor site listed below, you can find the following info about earnings for production people in television. Announcers fall into a different category, but you can find the whole publication of the 2008-2009 Occupational Outlook Handbook at the second link below. Sometimes you have to look around a bit to find what you want, but it has lots of info. Like television announcer is listed under announcer, not television announcer. Check it out. The book has the nature of the work, the environment you work in, hours you might work in a given occupation, and lots more. Anyway, here's the info you were looking for.

Median annual earnings for television, video, and motion picture camera operators were $40,060 in May 2006. The middle 50 percent earned between $26,930 and $59,440. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $18,810, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $84,500. Median annual earnings were $44,010 in the motion picture and video industries and $32,200 in radio and television broadcasting.

Median annual earnings for film and video editors were $46,670 in May 2006. The middle 50 percent earned between $30,610 and $74,650. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $22,710, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $110,720. Median annual earnings were $53,580 in the motion picture and video industries, which employed the largest numbers of film and video editors.

Many camera operators who work in film or video are freelancers, whose earnings tend to fluctuate each year. Because most freelance camera operators purchase their own equipment, they incur considerable expense acquiring and maintaining cameras and accessories. Some camera operators belong to unions, including the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, and the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians.

Is media content more important than the mode of delivery?

Monday, May 25th, 2009

I think it is, but i don't actually have any reasons why other than its the information that is actually important!

Yes it is, but there's an important lesson here: If the information is not presented well, the message might get lost.

That means, newspaper reports have to have works spelled correctly and sentences make sense. Radio broadcasters have to say words correctly and have good sentence structure (a good voice doesn't hurt). On television, we throw in the added issue of appearance of the reporter or anchor in some cases.

I have an idea for a commercial advertising chocolate?

Monday, May 25th, 2009

I have an idea to advertise chocolate in a commercial, but I don’t know how to get my voice heard. Do you have any idea where I can go with my idea?

is this your own chocolate or one that is already established?

the best advice i can give you is go find that agency that holds the chocolate account and talk to them. Its a 1 to 1000 longshot they will take your idea seriously though because you are not in the industry.

Or try the chocolate bar HQs.

best of luck

What are the best Greek Mythology Documentary Films?

Monday, May 25th, 2009

I’m looking to learn more about those kind of stuff, I want something that will describe the whole story from the beginning, as in from the time of the Titans even started, if possible a movie not older than the 1996…

Any idea which will suit best?

Movies won’t be your best bet for the telling of the mythos. There is a good series that was on TV on the History Channel called, ‘Greek Gods and Goddesses’. These can be seen on YouTube:
